Climate migration is happening now and will only happen faster and with greater impact: with each degree of temperature rise, a billion people will be displaced and huge swathes of the world will become uninhabitable. It's vital that we talk about this now. #refugeeweek #worldrefugeeday

Climate migration and refugee numbers are fast increasing. Let's recognize that we are all connected. This is NOT the time to become cold-hearted, isolated nationalists. This is NOT the time to vilify migrants. Our own friends, families or connections may be the next to have to move. Human-caused climate disruption knows no borders. 🌀🔥💧Drought, flooding & storms leading to shortages of clean water and failed harvests are among the main drivers of mass migrations. Heat itself is also becoming a big driver. Our economic systems & governance need to become more pragmatic and resilient in response. Going forward, 'business as usual' will not work. While supporting our trusted charities, NGO's and the #UN., we must ALSO pressure our governments - local regional & national - for better planning. Whatever lies ahead, it will surely be less bad for our efforts.👇 btw, this is a brilliant podcast.🌍 • 🕊️#publichealth #Migrants #ClimateRefugees #drought #floods #ClimateEmergency #Resiliency -------- 20 June, 2024 -------
