She has also worked with cosplay costume experts like Kevin Alejandro, Scott Adsit, and Keith Baker. But how did it all begin? How did she get so famous by simply dressing up as a cartoon or anime character? Here is the story of Susu’s rise to fame in the cosplay world.

Swimsuit Succubus’s Career as a Cosplayer

SwimsuitSuccubus first started taking interest in cosplay art when she was a middle school student. She got addicted to a video game and anime platform called Deviantart.com where she linked up with other anime lovers. Her favorites included ‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’, ‘Inuyasha’, ‘YuYu Hakusho’, ‘Tenjou Tenge’, ‘Ikkitousen’, ‘Airgear’, and ‘Strawberry 100%’.

Somewhere along the line, she was inspired to start dressing up as her favorite character, and she decided to call herself ‘SwimsuitSuccubus’. The name was inspired by her favorite anime character at the time, Morrigan Aensland from the Darkstalkers video game, and also by her love for swimsuits and bikinis.

At the time, Susu was juggling three different jobs and was struggling under the weight of her medical and college debts. Her financial situation wasn’t improving much due to some undisclosed health issues, and her three jobs—waitressing, retail and freelance art—weren’t covering the bills. In 2015, she finally decided to take the risk and uploaded a photo of herself in cosplay.

The photo received a lot of attention on Reddit, and soon she began to get offers from people asking her to take more risque photos. Because she needed the money, she agreed and soon got out of debt. When she realized how profitable cosplay was, she decided to invest more time and effort into it. The catalyst that really launched her career as a lewd cosplay artist was the Library Lingerie picture, taken in 2015.

Her other most famous works include her cosplay of Raven from Teen Titans, Azuka From Avatar, and Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series. The Aniki Cosplay company also commissioned her for a Hanaranger Sakura costume from the anime series titled ‘Kakuranger’. Her Daven costume was famously designed by Adaria-designs and inspired heavily by cosplayer Shunya Yamash*ta’s Bishoujo Raven costume.

She is inspired by fellow cosplayers like Enji Knight, Danielle Vedovelli, Krissy Victory, KayyyBear, MidnaAsh, Yoonie, Momokun, Bayonet Cosplay, Non Summer Jack, OhaiNaomi, Ero Hime, and Kinkywaifu. Elements of Japanese culture like Iiniku Ushijima, Ai Shinozaki, Gravure, and Amemiya Luna have also been incorporated into her art as well.

SwimsuitSuccubus Also Has A Successful Career as a Twitch Streamer

Susu was an internet sensation from 2015 through 2019. She had massive followership across platforms like Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. But although the young cosplayer was making lots of money and receiving plenty of attention for her cosplays, she decided to call it quits in April 2019.

She stopped creating content because many people were plagiarizing her content, and posing it as theirs, causing her to lose so much money. She didn’t go underground though and decided to pursue her old passion; Gaming.

Being a staunch devotee of anime video games, she had no struggles gathering decent followership on the game streaming app, Twitch. She plays manga games like Pokemon and DBZ, as well as indie games such as ‘Don’t Starve and Don’t Starve Together’, ‘Guild Wars 2’, ‘Disgaea 5’, and ‘Overwatch’—especially the ‘Persona 5’ and ‘Dragonball Xenoverse 2’ versions. Her followers on the gaming platform number over 284,000 as of May 2022.
