The Fête de la musique returns on Friday, June 21, 2024 in Paris, but also all over France! It's a chance to take to the streets once again to sing, dance and discover new and established bands and artists, free of charge. Whether you're a fan of rock, jazz, electro, rap, metal or classical music, you're bound to find what you're looking for, as the Fête de la Musique celebrates all styles and genres on a single day.
In Paris and Ile-de-France, the concerts and DJ sets are sure to be numerous. Whether in the street, a concert hall or an unexpected venue such as a museum or church... the Fête de la musique 2024 promises to be both beautiful and eclectic.
The Fête de la Musique was created in 1982 by the French Ministry of Culture. This mobilization of professional and amateur musicians, this new attention paid to all musical genres, became, through the immediate success of a popular event, the translation of a policy that intended to give their place to amateur practices as well as to rock, jazz, song and traditional music.
In just a few years, free concerts, the support of the SACEM, the media, the backing of local authorities and the ever-growing support of the general public would make this one of France's major cultural events. In fact, it began to be"exported" in 1985, to coincide with the European Year of Music. In less than fifteen years, the Fête de la Musique was taken up in over a hundred countries on all five continents.
