A man has been arrested in connection with the tragic shooting deaths of Kerlande and Marcelline Racine, a pastor and his wife, in West Palm Beach, Florida. Sony Josaphat, the ex-husband of Marcelline Racine, allegedly carried out the shootings just one week after the couple had gotten married. The incident occurred in front of their daughter, whom Josaphat shared with the victim. The motive behind the shooting appears to be related to the couple’s recent divorce.
According to reports, the couple had tied the knot on December 2, which also happened to be Marcelline Racine’s birthday. Her sister described her as being incredibly happy on her wedding day. However, the joyous occasion turned into a nightmare when Josaphat arrived at their home and opened fire.
According to Josaphat’s arrest report, he confessed to the crime and expressed feelings of anger and sleeplessness leading up to the incident. During his interrogation, Josaphat claimed that he went to the victims’ home to take his daughter to breakfast, but his anger got the better of him, leading him to fatally shoot the couple in front of their daughter. He acknowledged that his actions were wrong and stated that he had never done anything like this before.
Records show that Josaphat and Marcelline Racine had divorced on November 22. Investigators revealed that Josaphat had not lived in the home for a year but had a history of controlling behavior and would randomly show up at the residence. The couple was installing security cameras outside their home when Josaphat approached them and opened fire.
The tragic incident unfolded outside the couple’s home on Summit Run Circle. Witnesses reported seeing Josaphat walking through the yard while the couple was installing cameras. He greeted them before pulling out a pistol and shooting them both. The couple’s adult daughter, who witnessed the crime, immediately called 911 to report that her father had shot her mother and stepfather.
