Bring on the warm tones.
Spring is just around the corner. Not only does spring usher in warmer temperatures, longer days, and blooming flowers—it's also the perfect excuse to test out a brand new hair color. Now that winter is almost over and you won't have to bundle up every time you leave your house, it's time to book an appointment with your colorist.
No matter what your hair color is, this season's hottest hair trends are pointing toward one thing: warmth. Adding a hint of warmth to your hair color can brighten up your whole face. This season is also the perfect time to make a bold statement with your hair color. "We went through such dreary years [with] COVID lockdowns, [the] actor's strike, writers strikes all over the world, and now I believe we are all ready for some glam, statements, and color," says Tracey Cunningham, celebrity colorist and Redken ambassador. "That all starts with our hair. It’s a tale as old as time—if you're having a good day then you have to be having a great hair day."
We talked to celebrity colorists to get the lowdown on all things hair color for spring 2024, and we also took inspiration from our favorite celebrities. Keep reading for the 30 best hair colors to try this spring, including inspiration pictures to show your colorist once you're at the salon.
1
Vivid Red
“I am seeing and doing a lot of gorgeous, luscious reds,” says Cunningham. “Red truly is so versatile on most women.” Red tends to fade easily, so try using the Redken Acidic Color Gloss Activated Glass Gloss Treatment to keep it vivid.
2
Buttercream Blonde
Cunningham predicts that bold blonde will have a moment this year. Opt for a head-turning statement shade, like Anya Taylor-Joy’s buttery bright blonde.
3
Apricot Blonde
Apricot blonde is an easy way to try a more muted take on the classic strawberry blonde, and it’s set to be one of the biggest hair colors of the season. Instead of an overall red tint, apricot blonde adds warmth while still squarely falling into the blonde category. "It’s a fun and sexy yet natural looking color," says celebrity hair colorist and Olaplex Global Brand Ambassador Jenna Perry.

Strawberry Blonde
Though apricot blonde will have a moment, strawberry blonde isn’t going anywhere this season. Deep red has been having a moment, but if you want to lighten it up for spring, strawberry blonde is a playful way to do that. “It’s a lighter, flirtier version of the deeper reds we’ve been seeing in the cold winter months,” says Perry.
5
Burgundy Tinted
A hint of burgundy on dark hair adds just the right amount of intrigue. It’s also an incredibly easy and low-commitment hair color to try. Mix in a product like IGK’s Color Depositing Mask to get the look at home.
6
Rich Espresso Brunette
Perry says that rich, espresso-toned brunette will continue to trend this spring. “It gives off a sophisticated and classy vibe,” she explains. Ask for a rich brunette shade with dimension to achieve hair like Lori Harvey.

Warm Tones
A few years ago, cool tones reigned. Now, warmer hair is having a bit of a renaissance. No matter what color you want to go, you can warm it up for spring. “Ask your colorist for warmth in the color formulas,” says Perry.
9
Mushroom Blonde
Opting for low-maintenance, ultra-natural hair colors has never been more popular. If you want a blonde shade with minimal upkeep this spring, try a neutral, mushroom blonde shade like Taylor Swift’s. The color is the perfect in-between shade.

Deep Brunette
If you’re looking for a deeper shade of brunette, an espresso shade is always a good idea. Copy Zendaya’s latest hair color by asking for a neutral-toned deep brown.
11
Lived-In Blonde
In years past, it was seen as a faux pas to let your highlights grow out. Now, however, grown-out highlights are the perfect way to achieve lived-in, casual, cool hair. For the best results, opt for balayage in the salon—that way your highlights will grow out in a more natural-looking way, like Sydney Sweeney’s.
12
Raven
Nothing is more sleek and polished-looking than ultra-shiny black hair. To maintain tons of shine, add in a shine-boosting gloss like the Kérastase Chroma Absolu High Shine Gloss Treatment for Color-Treated Hair once a week.

Margot Robbie proves that money pieces will give you the ultimate laid-back blonde. Asking for bright pieces at the front will frame your face and bring out your features.
